Failing after failing

2 May

In the first several chapters of Genesis we find a number of very common wrong ways people react to their own failure.

1. Hide from God
2. Blame others
3. Become angry with God
4. Attack people who are doing right
5. Refuse to accept responsibility for your own actions
6. Lie about what you have done
7. Feel sorry for yourself
8. Act as if you are the victim when you receive the consequences for your actions
9. Run away from a relationship with God

The one reaction we do not see is the one reaction that would lead to peace and to lasting change, and that is repentance.

If someone wrote the story of your life, would your reactions to your own personal failures look any different?
