I had a gospel moment the other day. You are not as unique as you think you are…

I have often had the opportunity to think about 1 Corinthians 10:13, “…no temptation has overtaken you except that which is common to man…” This is a classic counseling verse. It obviously provides a whole lot of different reasons for encouragement, one of them being the fact that the struggles we face are not nearly as unique as we tend to think they are. Who am I?

I am looking at Ephesians 1 this morning and loving it. Who am I? In Christ. Chosen. Blessed with every spiritual blessing. In God’s Mind before the beginning of the world. Selected to be holy and blameless before God. Loved. Predestined to be adopted into God’s family through Jesus. Destined to bring God’s grace glory. Freely given grace. Set free from sin at the cost of God’s Son. Forgiven. The recipient of God’s lavish grace. Someone who knows the mystery of God’s will. And that is just the start. Continue reading Who am I?

Not Changing is Not Normal…

You go to church, what once or twice a week? You figure every good sermon you hear has maybe one or two good applications…at the very least. (That’s a random number I know, but work with me here.) 2 applications times 52, that’s 104 applications a year.
